How to Lead a Powerful Prayer Meeting
by John Franklin
"AND THE PLACE WAS SHAKEN How to Lead a Powerful Prayer Meeting by John Franklin is a fairly quick read unless you're underlining the parts you don't want to forget. It starts out like just another book on prayer. But in its pages, like buried treasure, is a template for transforming the usual ho-hum, needs-centered, self-centered "pity party" prayer meeting into a God-centered, Kingdom-focused, prayer experience with the Lord as the guest of honor.
Half way through the book I found myself, one Sunday morning, apologizing to the congregation for having allowed our Wednesday evening prayer meeting to become boring. It is becoming our midweek portal into the presence and power of God." Pastor Thom Sherwood, Long Falls Baptist Church, Carthage, NY
Wow!
I met John Franklin at NAMB's PrayerLink Meeting several years ago. A young man, he exuded an intensity and passion to lead God's people to seek repentance and revival.
In this book, Franklin focuses on helping churches improve and expand their weekly prayer meetings. He reviews what makes a prayer meeting dynamic, responsibilities of a prayer leader, and activities to help get people involved. He then outlines a format he has put together based loosely on the Lord's Prayer:
- Focus on God
- Respond from the heart
- Seek first the kingdom
- Present your requests
- Close in celebration
